“Joyful Onam Celebrations at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College”

 

     
                                 


The last Onam celebration at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College was held on 27th August, Wednesday, marked by joy, culture, and unity. The day began with a vibrant khoshayathra, accompanied by chendamelam, with students in traditional attire joining Mahabali in the procession, which ended at the college with a grand padakkam pottikal. The inaugural session followed, attended by our Manager and Principal, after which cultural programs began, including Thiruvathira by first and second-year students, a lively flash mob, and stage performances from the first years.

Traditional Onam games like Kasera Kali, Kulam Kara, Candy Race, Kalam Adi, and Biscuits Catcher brought fun and excitement, followed by a grand Onasadhya with payasam served to teachers, juniors, and M.Ed. students. The day’s highlights, Vadam Vali and Athapookalam, saw spirited competitions between first and second years, with the second years emerging victorious. The celebration concluded with a prize distribution ceremony announcing house champions, a heartfelt vote of thanks by Sithusha teacher, and words of gratitude from our Principal. It was a memorable day filled with happiness, unity, and festive spirit.

“Project Orientation Workshop: Insights into Research Methods”

 


As a part of our B.Ed curriculum, we attended an important project orientation workshop for the fourth-semester paper EDU 401.1, held on 23rd August 2025 at 10 a.m. in the general hall. The session began with a prayer by Muhsina from the English Department, followed by a warm welcome from our Principal, Dr. Benedict. Lakshmi Mam took the class in a very interactive and engaging manner, guiding us through the concepts of minor research, action research, and case studies while also providing PPT notes for reference. Over the four-hour session, we received detailed orientation and had all our questions addressed. After a lunch break, a Q&A session offered further clarification, and the program concluded with a vote of thanks by Neethu Raj from the Malayalam Department, followed by Arun Sir officially ending the workshop. All faculty members were present, making it an informative and interactive learning experience.

“Fresher’s Day 2025: Joy, Games, and Togetherness with Union Ektha”



Union Ektha organized a grand Fresher’s Day to give a warm and memorable welcome to our juniors. The entire venue was beautifully decorated, creating a cheerful atmosphere for the occasion. The program was anchored by Jesna Johnson from the Mathematics Department and Alfiya N from the Malayalam Department, who kept the audience engaged with their lively presence. The function was inaugurated by our Principal, Dr. Benedict Sir, who delivered an inspiring address that motivated the students and added grace to the event. The program started with a theme presentation prepared specially for the first years, followed by a variety of stage performances from each department of the second years. I also had the privilege of representing the Physical Science Department in a dance performance, which was both exciting and enjoyable. Alongside the cultural events, fun-filled games were conducted for the juniors, ensuring that everyone actively participated and enjoyed the spirit of the day. After the activities, food was arranged for all, making the gathering even more festive and delightful.

Post lunch, the energy rose even higher with an adventurous treasure hunt organized by Noel M. Shibu, in which all the departments participated with great enthusiasm. This segment brought teamwork, thrill, and joy, leaving the juniors with lasting memories of their first Fresher’s Day. As the celebrations drew to an end, the wind-up session turned out to be the true highlight of the day—teachers and students together filled the stage with dance, laughter, and music, creating an atmosphere of unity and joy. The collective participation of everyone made the program unforgettable, and the celebration came to a close by 3:30 pm with hearts full of happiness and memories to cherish.

๐ŸŒฟ Day 20 – A Calm Day of Observations

 The twentieth day of our first phase teaching practice began on a calm and steady note. We reached the school by 9:00 AM, signed the register, and joined the morning prayer, pledge, and national anthem. During the first period, I had a substitution class in 6B, where I interacted with the students through simple discussions to keep them engaged. With no further classes allotted for me, I spent the rest of the day observing senior teachers’ classes and assisting with small school-related tasks. At 12:15 PM, we performed our regular noon meal serving duty. The afternoon was relatively quiet, and after the national anthem at 3:45 PM, we signed the register and returned home.


๐Ÿงช Day 21 – Teaching Chemical Equations

The twenty-first day began with the usual routine of reaching school by 9:00 AM, signing the register, and attending the morning prayer, pledge, and national anthem. During the 3rd period, I had a regular Chemistry class in 8B, where I taught the topic Chemical Equations from the unit Elements and Compounds. The students showed keen interest, and the examples made the concept more relatable for them. At 12:15 PM, we performed the noon meal serving duty. In the afternoon, we focused on preparing teaching aids and organizing materials for upcoming lessons, making the day productive and purposeful. The school day ended at 3:45 PM with the national anthem.



๐Ÿ’ง Day 22 – Exploring Liquid Pressure

The twenty-second day began with our regular school routine. After signing the register and attending the morning assembly, we continued with our scheduled activities. As part of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, a quiz competition and an elocution competition were conducted in the school library. Many students participated with enthusiasm, showcasing their talents and knowledge. At 12:15 PM, I joined in serving the noon meal. During the 5th period, I had a substitution class in 8B, where I discussed the model question paper for the upcoming Onam examination. The students eagerly clarified their doubts, making the session interactive. In the 8th period, I had a regular Physics class in 8D, where I taught the topic Liquid Pressure from the unit Pressure. The lesson went smoothly with active participation from the students. After the final anthem at 3:45 PM, we returned home.

The twenty-third day began with a special assembly. After the prayer, pledge, and national anthem, the Canara Bank regional manager delivered a motivational talk. Three students were honoured with cash awards for academic excellence. The highlight of the day was the school election, conducted during the 3rd period. By noon, the results were announced in a special assembly, declaring the winners for posts such as school leader, educational minister, sports minister, health minister, and arts minister. A celebratory lunch of fried rice and chicken curry was served, and I assisted with the serving duty. In the 5th period, I had a Physics class in 8D, teaching Factors Affecting Liquid Pressure. The day concluded at 3:45 PM with the national anthem, and we left feeling part of a memorable school event.

The twenty-fourth day of teaching practice was calm and organized. After reaching the school at 9:00 AM and signing the register, the day started with the morning prayer, pledge, and national anthem. Although I had no regular class allotted today, I was given a substitution class in 8B during the 4th period. I used the session to discuss important questions for the upcoming examination, which the students found helpful. At 12:15 PM, we carried out our regular noon meal duty. With no further classes in the afternoon, the day ended smoothly with the national anthem at 3:45 PM.

๐Ÿ“ Day 15 – Measuring Moments in the Classroom

The fifteenth day of our first phase teaching practice began on a familiar note. We reached the school by 9:00 AM and signed the register at the office. The day started with the morning prayer, pledge, and national anthem. I had two substitution classes today. During the 2nd period, I handled a Physics class in 8D, teaching Measurement of Pressure from the unit Pressure. In the 3rd period, I had another substitution class in 8B, where I revised previously covered Chemistry topics and engaged students with a few interactive questions to refresh their learning. At 12:15 PM, we performed our regular noon meal serving duty. The afternoon session was calm, with no scheduled classes for me. After the final bell and the national anthem at 3:45 PM, we signed the register and returned home.

      



๐Ÿงช Day 16 – Chemistry in Action

We stepped into the sixteenth day of our first phase teaching practice with a sense of routine and purpose. After signing the register at 9:00 AM, the day began with the school prayer, pledge, and national anthem. I had a regular class during the 1st period in 8B, where I taught Mendeleev’s Periodic Law from the unit Elements and Compounds. During the 2nd and 3rd periods, optional observations for the Social Science and Mathematics departments were conducted, offering us valuable insights into different teaching methods. In the 5th period, I had a substitution class again in 8B, this time covering Chemical Formula of Molecules. At 12:15 PM, we carried out our usual noon meal serving duty. With no further classes in the afternoon, the day ended peacefully with the national anthem at 3:45 PM before we returned home.
     



๐Ÿ•Š Day 17 – A Lesson in Peace
 
The seventeenth day began with the usual assembly, which included a short talk by Class 9 students commemorating Hiroshima Day. Their words reminded us of the importance of peace and the devastating impact of war. I had a substitution class during the 2nd period in 8D, where I taught Pressure and Surface Area from the unit Pressure. At 11:30 AM, the school gathered for a March Past rehearsal in preparation for Sports Day. Students from NCC, JRC, and the three house teams—Yellow, Pink, and Red—participated with enthusiasm. At 12:15 PM, we performed our noon meal duty. In the 5th period, I took another substitution class in 8B, teaching Chemical Formula of Elements from Elements and Compounds. From 2:30 PM onwards, PTA meetings were conducted in all classes following the mid-term exam. The day ended with the national anthem at 3:45 PM.





๐Ÿƒ‍♂️ Day 18 – Sports Day Kicks Off

The eighteenth day started with the morning assembly at 9:20 AM, followed by my 4th-period class in 8B, where I taught Chemical Formula of Compounds from the unit Elements and Compounds. At 12:15 PM, we took part in the noon meal serving duty. The much-awaited Sports Day began at 1:00 PM with a colourful March Past led by NCC, Guides, JRC, and house teams—Yellow, Red, and Pink. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Maneesh Rasheed, HOD of Physical Education at TKM College of Engineering. The first event, the 100-metre race, set an energetic tone for the afternoon. We assisted in coordinating events, arranging students, recording results, and preparing certificates. The day concluded at 3:45 PM with the national anthem.










๐ŸŽ– Day 19 – Champions of the Field

The nineteenth day began with our usual arrival and the morning assembly at 9:20 AM. The Sports Meet continued with exciting events, including the 200-metre race, medicine ball throw, shot put, discus throw, and standing long jump. At 12:15 PM, we performed our noon meal serving duty. After lunch, events resumed with the 800-metre walking race, long jump, and the thrilling 4×100 metre relay. The teachers also participated in friendly competitions such as the 100-metre race and shot put, which brought lots of laughter and camaraderie. At 3:30 PM, the prize distribution ceremony was held. The Pink team proudly emerged as both the March Past winners and the overall champions of the meet. Throughout the day, we continued assisting with duties, from organising participants to preparing certificates. The celebrations ended with the national anthem at 3:45 PM.

๐ŸŒ• Day 10: Exams Begin and Observations Kick Off

Today was the tenth day of our first phase teaching practice, and it marked a new phase within the school as well. From today onwards, unit tests began for all classes. We reached the school by 9:20 AM and signed the register. Unlike regular days, there was no common assembly due to the exams. Instead, the prayer, pledge, and national anthem were conducted class-wise, maintaining a calm and exam-friendly atmosphere. The first period was allotted entirely for exams across all classes. Adding to the day’s importance, our general observation sessions also began today under the guidance of Swathy Teacher. Three student-teachers were observed during the second period onwards. I had no regular or substitution classes, but we continued with our noon meal serving duty at 12:15 PM, assisting the younger students during their lunch break. In the 7th and 8th periods, I had invigilation duty in class 10B for the Malayalam unit test. This duty gave me an opportunity to observe exam conduct protocols and student behavior during assessments. The day concluded with the national anthem at 3:45 PM, after which we signed the register and returned home.
     
        




๐Ÿงช Day 11: Between Chemistry and Classroom Supervision

On the eleventh day, we arrived by 9:00 AM and signed the register at the office. The school followed the same structure as the previous day, with class-wise prayer and anthem, as unit tests were still underway. The second period was dedicated to the unit test for classes 8 and 9, keeping the students focused and silent across the campus. During the third period, I had a regular Chemistry class in class 8B. I taught the topic “Earlier Attempts for the Classification of Elements” from the unit Elements and Compounds. The students were attentive, and the class discussion helped them relate to the idea of historical efforts in organizing elements. At 12:15 PM, we performed our noon meal duty as usual. I had a substitution class in 9C during the 5th period, where I engaged the students in a short recap of science topics. The last period was again used for the unit test, and the day ended with the national anthem at 3:45 PM.

         


๐ŸŒ€ Day 12: General Observation – A Moment of Growth

The twelfth day of teaching practice was an important one for me. We reached school by 9:00 AM and started the day with the usual morning formalities. During the 4th period, I had my general observation in class 8D. I taught the topic “Ways to Reduce Friction” from the Motion and Force unit in Physics. I had prepared well with visual aids and relatable examples. The students responded actively, which boosted my confidence. Swathy Teacher observed the session and gave me positive feedback, which was reassuring. With this, all general observations for our group were completed. At 12:15 PM, we assisted with the noon meal distribution. I had no other assigned classes, but in the last period, I had exam invigilation duty for the Chemistry unit test in class 8D. The day closed with the national anthem and we returned home feeling fulfilled.

Today was the thirteenth day, and it was significant as it was the day of my optional observation. We reached the school at 9:00 AM and completed the morning formalities. During the first period, I conducted my optional observation class in 8D, teaching the Physics topic “Pressure and Its Effect on Surface”. I used simple language, real-life examples (like knife and brick), and visuals to make the concept easy for students to grasp. The class went smoothly, and the students were active participants. I received encouraging feedback for classroom management, clarity, and confidence. It was a proud moment in my teaching journey. Afterwards, we resumed our noon meal duty at 12:15 PM. I also had invigilation duty in class 8B during the 7th period for the unit test. The day wrapped up with the national anthem.

The fourteenth day had a different rhythm, marked by spirituality and calmness. We arrived by 9:00 AM and signed the register. There were no classes assigned to me today. A Holy Mass was scheduled at 11:45 AM at a nearby church, and all the teachers and students attended the service. It was a moment of peace and reflection, providing a break from the usual academic schedule. We returned to school by 1:00 PM and soon began the noon meal serving duty. The afternoon session resumed at 1:30 PM, but I had no further class or duty assignments. The day ended with the national anthem at 3:45 PM, marking a serene and reflective close to the week.
