Day 1: January 8, 2025
As part of the B.Ed curriculum, Microteaching sessions for the first semester were conducted on January 8 and 9, 2025. Students from different departments participated as actors, while the class teacher served as the main supervisor, supported by three department observers.
The sessions began at 10:00 AM. For the first hour, I participated as a student in a Mathematics class, which was a unique experience. At 11:00 AM, the focus shifted to our department, and the first session concluded at 12:00 PM, followed by a short break.
At 12:15 PM, it was my turn to present. My selected skill was probing questions, and I taught the topic "Chemical Bonding" to students from the Malayalam department. The feedback from the teacher and observers was positive, highlighting my strengths and areas for improvement. This feedback significantly boosted my confidence.
Following my session, other students continued presenting their lessons. A lunch break was held at 1:15 PM, and classes resumed until 3:30 PM. The day provided a new and enriching experience for everyone involved.
Day 2: January 9, 2025
The second day was dedicated to completing the remaining Microteaching sessions. Students continued delivering their lessons, applying the feedback and insights gained from Day 1. By the end of the day, the first semester Microteaching sessions were successfully completed.
Reflections
The Microteaching sessions were a valuable learning opportunity, offering practical experience in teaching, peer interaction, and constructive feedback. This initial exposure has laid a strong foundation for the upcoming teaching practice, fostering confidence and growth among all participants.
