The Malayalam Department Association, Kalosmi, at our college hosted an inspiring event dedicated to one of the greatest figures in Malayalam literature, M.T. Vasudevan Nair. The program, held as a heartfelt tribute, was a day filled with insightful discussions, artistic expressions, and engaging competitions.
A Tribute in Words and Light
The event commenced at 10 AM with a warm welcome address by Akhil Sir from the Malayalam department. Our principal delivered the presidential address, setting the stage for a day of literary reflection. A special candle-lighting ceremony was conducted in honor of M.T. Vasudevan Nair, symbolizing his enduring legacy in Malayalam literature.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Prof. Dr. M.R. Shelly from Fatima Mata National College, who delved deep into the legendary writer’s contributions to literature and cinema. Rev. Father M. Jacob, Sheeja Chacko Miss, Arun Raj Sir, Dona Miss, and our union chairman, Albin K. Alexander, also shared their insights, celebrating the writer’s timeless impact. The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by jishnu Balachandran, a student representative.
An Immersive Literary Experience
Following the session, an exhibition was organized in the Malayalam department classroom, inaugurated by our principal. The exhibition was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the team, featuring an engaging documentary on M.T. Vasudevan Nair’s life and works. The cultural essence of his writings was further brought to life through a dance performance inspired by one of his creations.
Quiz Battle: Testing Literary Knowledge
Adding an element of excitement, a quiz competition was held, with all departments competing in their optional groups. After a fierce intellectual battle, our Physical Science department emerged as the champion, followed closely by the Mathematics department in second place.
A Day to Remember
The program concluded at 1:30 PM, leaving everyone enriched with a deeper appreciation for the literary legend. Kalosmi’s tribute to M.T. Vasudevan Nair was not just an event but an experience—a perfect blend of learning, creativity, and celebration of literature.
